Pop stars and their collaborations these days. Azealia Banks has teamed up with M.A.C. Cosmetics to release her very own semi-matte lipstick named after her alter-ego Yung Rapunxel. The color is similar to the shade she enjoys sporting, a nice deep plum, which is just in time for this fall.

It will be available at MAC stores in the US only from September 6, 2012 through September 20, 2012 and online at maccosmetics.com a day early on September 5th. And if that wasn’t enough, Azealia will be at the M.A.C. store in SoHo for Fashion’s Night Out putting on a free show. Who’s going to rock their Yung Rapunxel lips and twerking to some Azealia on FNO? We’ll most likely be in the building.

Singer Janelle Monáe has joined the likes of P!nk, Taylor Swift and Drew Barrymore to name a few, as the new face of CoverGirl cosmetics. The advertisement is currently running in fall magazines.

Jessica Chastain continues to show us how amazing she is. The actress has been chosen by Yves Saint Laurent to be the ambassador of their new fragrance titled, Manifesto, available in stores this August.

Vidal Sassoon, the hair styling pioneer who revolutionized women’s hair with signatures such as the “wash and wear” and the five point cut, died in his LA home Wednesday. He was 84.

Sassoon, who was born in East London, began his career at age 14 and rose to prominence in the 1960’s creating such iconic looks as the “bob”, a wash-and-wear type style that revolutionized women who had adorned rollers and hair spray up until that point.  He was also paid $5,000 to create Mia Farrow’s pixie cut before she filmed Rosemary’s Baby.

If you don’t know a lot about Sassoon and his story, we suggest you watch the documentary Vidal Sassoon: The Movie, which was released in 2010. Sassoon also sold his company to Proctor and Gamble in the 1980’s.

As many ponder when and will Nicki Minaj will return to the twitter verse after cancelling her account late last week due to the early leak of her album, some good news have emerged for the diminutive rapper/ singer. Minaj has partnered with Give Back Brands, the same licensing company behinds Justin Bieber’s uber selling frangrace “Someday”. According to the press release on PR Newswire, Minaj is “involved” with the fragrance’s smell and packaging and will release in department stores this fall. “I have always been a huge fan of great fragrances; this is yet another extension of my creative expression and I can’t wait to share it with the world. I designed this scent and bottle with my Barbz in mind.” Minaj says.

No word if the scent will smell like donuts, cherries, bananas and a hint of ecstasy or would like Marge Simpson meets Mars Blackmon, but we’re guessing these are some of the influences Nicki’s conjuring.

Are you ready for a Marc Jacobs cosmetics line? We certainly are! The designer, who already has a laundry list of fragrances out on the market, is venturing further into beauty counters with Sephora, collaborating on a full cosmetics line to include everything from foundations to eyeliners. Yet there still in the early development stage, Jacobs revealed to WWD:

“I see makeup, fragrance — everything, really — as an opportunity. The idea of choosing a color for your lip, or an eyeliner — it’s just such a delight. The ritual of waking up and making those choices is something people really enjoy. We currently are working on defining what Marc Jacobs cosmetics will be, what they’ll say, what makes them distinctive. I think that will take some time, but the first meeting was good.”

Jacobs is not the only fashion designer to have a namesake cosmetics line in the works. He’ll join the ranks of Tom Ford, Vera Wang and Diane Von Furstenberg of American high end fashion designers with their namesake cosmetics brand.
