Unless you’ve been living under a rock, we’ve all have been indulging in the Summer 2012 Olympics in London. Friday night’s inaugural Opening Ceremony was truly a spectacle. Yet while most watched to see what UK film director Danny Boyle had up his sleeves as the creative director for the event, fashionistas/os had their eyes glued to which country wore the best Opening Ceremony outfit. Here are our picks below!

Great Britain – Many critics have gave the Great Britain team slack for their gold metallic and white jacket/ pant combo, but we love it! The look is very Mark Ronson meets Abba and anything Stella McCartney design is pretty much gold in our eyes.

Netherlands – Orange is a tricky color to pull off, but the Netherlands made it look effortless, especially as a chino.

Romania: This man aka (Ryan Lochte, eat your heart out).

Jamaica: The Jamaica team definitely takes the cake for best tailoring. Their blazers fit the team perfectly!

Belgium: Color-blocking done well!

USA – With the backlash of the Ralph Lauren designed/ China outsourced uniforms, we must say that the US did look chic as they marched in. Primarily for the berets.

Canada – Although a track jacket and khaki trousers are the farthest reach for anything chic in today’s modern high style world, Canada definitely made a last impression strutting in this Friday night. And we can’t help but mention they looked stylish while doing so. Sue us!

The Twilight stars were in full force as Kristen Stewart (with her famous grimace) went for a mature look in a Roberto Cavalli structured blazer. Yet, ladies such as Zoe Saldana and Zooey Deschanel rocked pretty frocks from Johnathan Saunders and Monique Lhuillier respectively.

But the show stopper of the night was a surprise. Demi Lovato opted for a complete different look in a Falguni & Shane Peacock geometric and feathery dress with a high ponytail. We give her props for breaking the norm, but do you think it was a bit too much?

Although some red carpet stars such as Beyonce, Solange or Kimye didn’t walk the red carpet of the 2012 BET Awards last night (they opted to go straight inside instead of posing for the paps) but that didn’t stop the fun and excitement of seeing what everybody else wore.

Nicki Minaj, who won the award for “Best Female Hip Hop Artist,” wore skintight snake patterned leggings; while Kim and Kanye matched in all white, Beyonce glowed in chartreuse satin Stéphane Rolland gown, model Selita Ebanks wore a Falguni and Shane Peacock embellished and sheer dress and even R&B superstar Monica wore archived Alexander McQueen during her touching Whitney Houston tribute.

If you watched last night’s 2012 Billboard Music Awards, it seemed like it lacked a few things. Maybe Beyonce wasn’t available to bring baby Blue or J. Lo couldn’t muster up an appearance, but the event lacked the star wattage we’re accustom to seeing at these type of award shows. Nonetheless the white carpet had a few good stars making a few good sartorial moments.

Several come to mind including Carrie Underwood in a very Princess like frothy pale gown by Oscar de la Renta, Zooey Deschanel going 60’s mod in a Moschino fall 2012 beaded halter number and even Miley Cyrus who choose to go for a sexy in an ivory double breasted tuxedo jacket by Jean Paul Gaultier. The Good

Prada vs. Givenchy

Although the night belonged to Miuccia Prada and Elsa Schiaparelli – the focus for the Costume Institute Gala’s latest exhibition, Impossible Conversations, there was a war waging on between two fashion houses. Prada had many come in the garms including: Gwyneth Paltrow, Carey Mulligan, Eva Mendes and Anna Wintour but it was Givenchy that closely followed them with many celebs in the house’s scene stealing red carpet moments. Rooney Mara walked with designer Riccardo Tisci in a Givenchy Haute Couture black asymmetrical one-sleeve lace dress. Other celebs in Givenchy included: Gisele Bundchen, Coco Rocha (in a vintage number owned previously by Elizabeth Taylor) and the most jaw dropping of the night, Beyonce – who showed up last – in a combo of black lace, crystal embellishments and a train of purple feathers giving Kiss of the Spider Woman tease.

Other notable mentions in our good category: Carey Mulligan in Prada, Marion Cotillard in Dior, Eva Mendes in Prada, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in Burberry, Ivanka Trump in Peter Pilotto and Anna Wintour in Prada.

Most Improved: Kristen Wiig in Stella McCartney. Kristen’s been a little lackluster on the red carpet as of yet (her low: under performing in a copper Zac Posen to last year’s Emmys). So it was nice to see Kristen embrace color in a tangerine lace Stella McCartney dress.

Yellow Not So Mellow: Yellow was the color that really stood out on the red carpet last night. While many wore seas of nude, or blush tones, both Solange Knowles and January Jones stood out in bright hues. Solange went a tad darker in a canary number with peplum effect in a Rachel Roy dress as January Jones tapped into the future with a strong bodice Versace gown.

The “Costumey” Award: We know what you’re thinking. “Aren’t you supposed to be costumey to the Met Gala?” Well no not really. Avant Garde is acceptable but there is a difference between looking very editorial and runway-esque and looking like you came out of a period piece. Kirsten Dunst in Rodarte, we’re judging you.

Best Dressed Buyer: Linda Fargo of Bergdorf’s was the ONLY one in co-exhibitor Elsa Schiaparelli vintage design and for that we give her a round of applause.

The “Carny” Award: Yeah, hands down this goes to Florence Welch in Alexander McQueen. She looked like she escaped from the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey circus.

Best Dressed Male: It’s Kanye West at the Met. This was a no brainer.

Failure to Launch Award: This is a tie to both Dakota Fanning and Debra Messing. Once we heard Dakota was going to wear Louis Vuitton, we thought this was her moment to wear something Victorian-esque and sexy, not look like Laura Ingalls from Little House on the Prairie, although, she comes in tie with Debra Messing in a bland looking gold Kaufmanfranco gown. What happened to the fuchsia wearing, neon loving Debra Messing of Michael Kors yore? Come back, little Debra.

Dynamic Duo Award: We might get some slack for this, but we loved Rachel Zoe and Karolina Kurkova together in both of Rachel Zoe’s designs. It called for some much needed drama on the red carpet.

Best Dressed Couple: Gisele Bundchen in Givenchy and Tom Brady in Tom Ford. Aside from their matching slicked up do’s, both Tom and Gisele looked equally stunning. We especially loved how Tom’s oversized bowtie.

The Bad: Leading the nights fails included Bianca Brandolini D’Adda in a way too much sparkle gown and cape combo (was very Game of Thrones), a frightening looking Mary Kate Olsen and Jessica Stam in some sort or papier-mâché creation.

The Fugliest of Them All: No words can go out to Milla Jovovich. We were so confused by the propotion of her dress and it had the nerve to be too long. As one of the best dressed of the Met 2011 last year, Christina Ricci failed – miserably – in Thakoon’s bow and Jessica Chastain looked like she wore the Empire State building in her column dress.

The 2012 Met Gala has finally arrived and this year’s fashionable red carpet was one of the best we’ve seen in a long time. From Christina Ricci’s major bow moment in Thakoon to Beyonce’s jaw dropping (late) arrival in Givenchy Haute Couture, the carpet was not for the faint of heart. In keeping with the Costume Institute’s new exhibit theme, Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations, many attendees turned out in their freshest Prada, while many choose to wear other designers (and even bring them as their dates). The White House Correspondents’ Dinner took place this past weekend, Saturday night to be exact, and it was a major star studded event. Hollywood A-listers like Charlize Theron to D-listers such as Lindsay Lohan (who invited her?!) joined President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama with a slew of media moguls. Why such a glitzy group of guests? Beat us, but the fashion was redic; probably 1000x better than what’s expected at the other White House Dinners. The Hot:

In one of the best colors of the season, Kristen Stewart looked bold in a cobalt blue Stella McCartney lace dress. It’s nice seeing this actress out of her usual all black looks.

Back as a blonde, Emma Stone looked simply elegant in a cream Antonio Berardi dress.

Kelly Osbourne looked flirty in her Tony Ward dress. We especially loved the pop of color with her purple hair.

Even though she’s 9, Selena Gomez rocked in this two piece Dolce and Gabbana ensemble. A little sexy never hurts!!

The Not:

We get that Katy Perry likes to take risks, but she looked like a skimpy sea monster in her totally lime green bra and skirt. Perhaps her fashion sense is the one that got away.

Although her Kymerah was pretty, we just didn’t like how it looked on Ashley Tisdale. As a beautiful young woman, we’d prefer to see her in something that’s not so mature. We want fun and flirty!

Jada Pinkett Smith looked strange in her  pink jumpsuit with a denim jacket and her parted up-do, or should we say, DON’T. She is far too mature to be trying to look like a wannabe Nicki Minaj.

Victoria Justice was right on with the bright coral color, however the blazer and jacket seemed a little odd for a kids’ award show. A for effort, though.

Jennie Garth’s top and pants weren’t only just BORING but they were super unflattering. This looked made her seem short and stumpy. Not cute.

For the London press junket for her new film out this summer, Battleship, Ri wore a multicolored marble print Stella McCartney Evening 2012 blazer dress while donning earlier in the day an olive colored satin halter Alexander Wang Pre – Fall 2011 dress. Looking at both styles, Ri still has her edgy aesthetic, yet toned down opting for body conscious proportions and emphasis.

Keeping up with the chic, not completely over the top theme, Ri’s down time was just like her red carpet moments.  While taking a subway ride to see her buddy Drake perform, Ri wore a Maison Martin Margiela Resort 2012 flame tee shirt with thigh high Loubutin heels.  Across the pond (or ocean as we should call it) Ri wore Spring 2012 Alexander Wang jeans ombre digital floral jeans to Las Plamas nightclub in Hollywood, CA.

With all this high fashion sartorial style, Ri has def won our fashion hearts over the week.
