We’ve seen the collections from the spring runway shows but how much did you pay attention to the details? Without the little extras, the lines would not be complete, besides, every outfit needs accessories! Here are our top 15 accessories that caught our eye for Spring 2012.
As fashion month continues (and memories of spring and summer slowly drift away), we recap on some of our favorites from the Milan shows so far.
“Sweetness” was the theme of the Prada show. And that it was. With pastel hues, a little exposed skin, and skirts/dresses galore, the flirtatious femininity was not lacking. But don’t let the girly tone fool you. There was an edge to the collection with the reference to the other love in a man’s life besides his woman…his car. The leather details and graphic designs give the apparel some of the visuals of a sports car.
At Alberta Ferretti, it was all about the “urban jungle.” Traditional Zulu patterns and exotic colors gave the collection a more subtle interpretation of the African tribe theme. It’s still sexy and sophisticated without looking like a costume from The Lion King. Men will be purring for a different reason…
Celebrating its 90th birthday, Gucci took to the catwalk with architectural-like designs with fine tailoring. Even though black was a predominant color in the collection, the use of metallics were an integral part of the design. It references the 20’s yet has a futuristic feel, especially with the structural shapes. Definitely a different note than the other shows, but it’s nice to see a collection that’s not all florals and pastels.
There are plenty of chic film festivals around; the annual Cannes film festival taking the top spot with plenty of tulle, gowns and dapper actors in Tom Ford. Yet Venice is not too far behind. This year, we saw plenty of actresses, socialites and models in Gucci, Vionnet and even edgy London designer Mary Katrantzou (le sigh, Keira Knightley looked breathtaking).
We combed a few of favorite ladies who were head turners at the festival, but what say you? Did Kate Winslet bring the va va va voom in a body hugging white and black Stella McCartney dress or were you feeling Madonna’s “butterfly effect” in Vionnet.
